CORE RULES

01SELECTED START WINDOW

After the opponent accepts, both producers have the start window chosen for that battle to begin their own timed session. Available windows are controlled by NMT BeatBattle, so different time zones do not require a shared start time.

02STRICT PRODUCTION TIMER

The production limit is 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 minutes. Your personal server timer starts only after you confirm START SESSION and it cannot be paused or restarted.

03HIDDEN CHALLENGE

The exact mood or image is assigned by NMT and revealed only after your timed session begins. This prevents preparing specifically for the challenge before the clock starts.

04ORIGINAL PRODUCTION

No melodic loops, pre-made compositions, copyrighted musical samples or AI-generated musical material. Drum one-shots, 808s, instruments and your own sound design are allowed.

05FINAL MP3

Submit one MP3 between 2:00 and 6:00. A confirmed submission is locked and cannot be replaced. The exact same audio file cannot be reused in another NMT battle.

06BLIND VOTING

The audience knows who is battling, but the two submissions stay anonymous. Their left/right order and temporary 01/02 labels are randomized for each page load, so neither position identifies a producer. Producer identities are revealed only after voting closes.

07LISTEN BEFORE VOTING

Before voting unlocks, each voter must genuinely play at least 50% of both anonymous submissions. Seeking through the audio does not count. Public voting also uses anti-abuse checks and human verification, with one valid vote per battle.

08TIME = SCORE

Shorter production limits reward more Battle Score: 5m = 30 pts, 10m = 25, 20m = 20, 30m = 16, 40m = 14, 50m = 12, 60m = 10. A battle must also reach the configured minimum valid-vote threshold to affect ranking.

NMT BEATBATTLE

QUICK FAQ

Is NMT BeatBattle free?

Yes. Producer applications, Open Battles and public voting are currently free. There is no entry fee for normal Open Battles.

Do I need to create an account or remember a password?

No. NMT BeatBattle does not require a traditional user account, username or password. Approved producers use their approved email to receive a secure time-limited link to the Competitor Center.

Where do producers actually make the beat?

In their own DAW on their own computer — for example FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic, Cubase or another production environment. The browser is only used to manage the battle, timer, submission and voting. The finished beat is submitted as an MP3.

I am new. Which button should I use?

Use NEW PRODUCER — APPLY. Submit the producer application once and wait for NMT MUSIC to approve your profile.

I am already approved. How do I enter BeatBattle?

Use ENTER BEATBATTLE. Enter your approved email address and the system will send a secure time-limited link to your Competitor Center. No password or login is required.

How do I start a new battle?

Open your Competitor Center, click CREATE BATTLE, choose an approved opponent, production time, start window, challenge format and voting time, then send the challenge. The opponent must accept before the selected start window begins.

Do both producers have to make their beats at the same time?

No. After acceptance, each producer can begin independently within the start window selected for that battle. This keeps battles practical across different countries and time zones.

When do I see the exact challenge?

The exact mood or image stays hidden until you press START SESSION. Confirming START SESSION immediately starts your server-side production timer.

Can I replace my MP3 after submission?

No. The final MP3 is locked after confirmation, so check the file carefully before submitting it.

Can voters see which producer made a specific submission?

No. Competitor names are public, but the two voting submissions are anonymous. Their left/right order and temporary 01/02 labels are randomized for each page load. Producer-to-beat identities and final results are revealed only after voting closes.

Do I have to listen before I can vote?

Yes. Voting unlocks only after at least 50% of both anonymous beats has been genuinely played. Skipping forward on the player does not count toward the listening requirement.

Can I share the BeatBattle page with people who want to vote?

Yes. Producers and visitors can share the public BeatBattle page at nmtmusic.com/beatbattle/. Voters do not need an account. Share the arena so people can listen and judge the anonymous submissions; do not rely on a fixed left/right position because the voting order is randomized.

Are there prizes for normal Open Battles?

At the moment, the reward for regular Open Battles is ranking position and Battle Score. There are no automatic cash or product prizes. Special NMT BeatBattle events or tournament-style competitions may offer prizes when sponsors or event partners are involved.

What is the difference between Open and NMT Verified Battle?

Open Battle is the flexible browser-managed mode with its own community ranking. NMT Verified Battle is the planned core competitive mode with FL Studio session verification, stricter production checks and a separate Verified ranking.
